Generation of Grace

Do you bring grace into your world? One definition of grace is a simple elegance or refinement of movement. Most people immediately think of a ballerina when they think about grace, or being graceful. There is definitely angary-ballerina elegance and a refinement of movement present in the picture of a ballerina, but what about the rest of us? Not everyone can practice ballet to develop grace. Nor do we need to.

Being graceful can apply to any area of your life. You can bring elegance into any activity or situation you are in. Elegance is determined not by what you are doing, but by how you are doing it. In anything you do, you can become more and more refined as you practice and strive for mastery. Seek to be better at any action you take or movement you make and you will find a developing gracefulness through your increase of ability.

Being graceful comes from a sense of love, care and respect taken within any endeavor. Love is the magic key for grace. When you love something, it has your full attention. You are completely present and investing your energy into it, focused on the perfection of its well-being. Whether that thing is a dance, a project, a relationship, a hobby, a piece of art or a conversation; it’s all the same. The more you love what you are doing, the better you will be at it. You will be giving it more attention and care because you love it. You will easily become more graceful and masterful at everything you approach with loving interest.

gary-sunBut what about the other side of the coin? Do you allow yourself to receive grace from your world? Grace is also defined as the love and mercy given to us by God because God desires us to have it, not because of anything we have done to earn it. That sounds a lot like unconditional love! This shows up as grace coming to you from the world, not just from an invisible, mystical God. This invisible presence does not only show up in miraculous and mysterious ways, it moves through the daily interactions of nature, people and situations. Grace is coming to you all of the time! Take a moment to recognize and appreciate all the ways in which you experience grace and blessings through your life, in even the smallest of ways.

If this type of unconditional grace is real and available, then the love of God doesn’t depend on what we do for it to be given as much as how open we are to receive it. Grace says that the divine forces of love and light are always available to you, regardless of what you might have done or who you think you might be. This is a beautiful place to live from. It doesn’t take a particular oath or affirmation to earn this right, just the willingness to open, allow and receive. Perhaps there are more blessings and experiences of grace available to you that you do not currently recognize.

Be open and look for opportunities of grace in your life. The one who feels like a victim will see many examples of oppression and personal injustice. The one who identifies as a creator will see examples of grace, blessing gary-manand opportunity. We justify our sense of self based on what we experience within ourselves and from the world. Our inner experiences are based upon what we choose to express and our outer experiences are based on what we choose to perceive. All experiences are there and available for anyone who chooses them. We always see more of whatever it is that we’re looking for!

If we are truly made in the image and likeness of the God that extends this great gift of unconditional love, then doesn’t it make sense that we can also extend this gift of grace into our own worlds? I think we can. After all, isn’t love without conditions the one thing that could truly bring peace and grace to this world? The end of all war, conflict, competition, comparison and separation consciousness. It starts with each of us, individually and collectively. Choose your expression and choose your perception. Choose grace!

  1. This is quite brilliant Gary. We might be tempted to elevate grace to something so lofty we forget we can experience in any given moment if we are responsive to the flow of being itself.
    Very much appreciated.
